Sehun let herself into Kai's house, closing the heavy front door behind her and toeing off her shoes, before she made her way to the living room. Kai was slumped on the couch with a tub of ice cream in her lap and a spoon stuck between her lips, fist gripping the handle like a little kid using a utensil for the first time.
“Didn't work out with Yixing?” she asked, detouring to the kitchen to grab a spoon before dropping onto the couch and stealing the tub of ice cream.
Kai scowled and then sighed.
“No,” she confirmed glumly, “He said that he's gonna be too busy with dance team practice to have a girlfriend.”
“At least he's not going off to college like that asshole I dated,” Sehun sniffed, still bitter.
“I don't think going to college makes Joonmyun an asshole,” Kai reasonably pointed out, earning an unamused glare from Sehun.
“He left me to go to college,” she said, “He's an asshole.”
Kai relented and took the ice cream back from Sehun to take another big bite.
“Remember when you dated that guy...the one who looks like he could kill you?”
“Tao?” Kai guessed through a mouthful of cookies and cream.
“Yeah,” Sehun nodded, “And he left you for a guy?”
“Shut up,” Kai frowned, “Why are we remembering this?”
Sehun shrugged, “It was pretty funny.”
“At least he didn't break up with me because I was cutting into his time with his best friend like Chanyeol did to you. It's basically the same thing, anyway.”
“Why do we have such bad luck with guys?” Sehun wailed.
“I dunno,” Kai shrugged, mouth full again.
“Maybe that Tao kid had the right idea,” she said, “Or Chanyeol even. Maybe they just realized that they'd have better luck dating guys because they get guys. I don't get guys.”
“Me neither,” Kai agreed, only half paying attention as she was much more concerned with the almost full cookie that she was trying to scoop up.
“We should just date,” she exclaimed, tossing her hands up over dramatically before sneaking a look at Kai out of the corner of her eye.
“Huh?” Kai looked at her, wondering just how much she'd missed while digging for that cookie.
“We get along,” Sehun started, looking like she was daring Kai to argue, “We already know what the other wants in a relationship. It's not like we'd get a few weeks into it and realize that we didn't like each other.”
“We're both girls,” Kai said as though Sehun might have been unaware of this fact.
“I realize that, dipshit,” she scoffed, rolling her eyes.
“You expect me to date you when you call me names all the time?” Kai demanded disbelievingly, “You'd be a shit girlfriend.”
“Would not!” Sehun protested, scowling, “I'd be an amazing girlfriend. I'd be a better date than all the lame guys that you've dated.”
“Not hard,” Kai remarked flippantly, sticking her spoon back in the ice cream and scooping out a now melted mouthful.
“Well, I'd be a way better significant other than them,” Sehun rephrased stubbornly, “I'd be the best damn girlfriend ever. You'd be lucky to have me.”
“Have you forgotten about the fact that we're both girls?” Kai asked, starting to wonder if Sehun maybe wasn't kidding with how she wasn't letting this go.
“Oh yeah,” Sehun deadpanned with a roll of her eyes, “Please remind me of our genders again, would you?”
“Shut up,” Kai pouted. Why did her best friend have to be such a smart ass?
“Not until you admit that you'd love to have me as a girlfriend.”
“I'm not convinced,” Kai told her, just to be a pain.
“Why the hell not?” Sehun demanded, turning fully toward Kai on the couch and grabbing the ice cream tub to set it on the coffee table. She was not going to be ignored for ice cream.
Kai sighed in annoyance.
“There's more to dating than getting along, Sehun,” Kai pointed out, “Who says I want to see you naked?”
It had been a joke, but she felt her cheeks burning after the words had left her mouth.
“Because everyone wants to see me naked,” Sehun replied with a gleam in her eye.
“You're probably not even a good kisser,” Kai challenged, trying to ignore the wicked smirk on Sehun's face and the way it was making her own heart pound.
“Wanna bet?”
“What?”
But before Kai could ask Sehun just how they were going to wager something like that, she was flat on her back on the couch with Sehun on top of her, eyes dark and full of promises.
Sehun's tongue darted out to lick her own bottom lip, a nervous habit, and Kai struggled to swallow around the lump in her throat.
And then Sehun's mouth was against hers, pressing and sending a rush of warmth through Kai's body. Sehun's lips were soft as they coaxed Kai's to part for her, Sehun's teeth nibbling on Kai's bottom lip before she slipped her tongue into Kai's mouth.
The shiver of want that went through her must have been felt by Sehun, but she just continued with what she was doing, licking at the roof of Kai's mouth and causing arousal to pool low in her gut.
Sehun was most definitely not a bad kisser. In fact, she was an amazing kisser. Easily the best kisser that Kai had had the pleasure of, well...kissing.
“Oh,” she muttered when Sehun pulled back, licking her own lips again and staring at Kai with lust-darkened eyes.
“Can I be your girlfriend now?” Sehun asked, managing to only sound annoyed despite the obvious want that was radiating off her, “Or would you like to cite more non-existent reasons why I wouldn't make a perfect girlfriend?”
Kai was struck for the first time by just how much she really did want Sehun as her girlfriend. All those sleepovers spent whispering together until dawn, all those “innocent” massages after dance class, all those smiles that were only for her. She felt a little bit stupid for only just noticing.
“Anytime now,” Sehun tutted, shifting slightly on top of Kai to make herself more comfortable and managing to graze Kai's breast with her forearm.
Sehun smirked at the resulting shiver.
“Fine,” Kai replied, trying to look annoyed, but miserably failing to hide her arousal.
Sehun grinned and shifted again, sliding her thigh between Kai's legs and pressing up against the crotch of her underwear. Kai gasped, flushing at the way she rocked down into the contact.
“Yixing doesn't know what he's missing out on,” Sehun commented with a smirk, rubbing her thigh against Kai's arousal again and watching the way her eyebrows scrunched in pleasure.
Yixing? Oh right. She actually had barely even given him a second thought since Sehun had waltzed through the door.
Well, guess she was over that.
Meanwhile, Sehun was sucking marks into her neck that would be a bitch to cover with concealer.
“I'd prefer not to have to explain to my parents why I have hickeys all over my neck,” she gasped, fingers digging into Sehun's shoulders.
“Would you be quiet for a second, so I can get you off?” Sehun complained, “Honestly.”
Apparently this was how things were going to be then, Kai thought. Oh well. It was really no change except now she had Sehun's thigh rocking against her. That wasn't something she would complain about.
Except she might just to be difficult. It was Sehun, after all.
