“Let no hand hold you down (Send all your barriers into the fire)”
It was clear to anyone that knew him- and even people that didn't- that Key was independent. He liked to do what he wanted regardless of what anyone else told him. He would defend what he believed and wouldn't take no for answer. It was all a bit intimidating, honestly, yet Key was someone who had more close friends than he had fingers. But after a while, Jonghyun noticed that, while Key had many close friends, none of them were too close. There was always a barrier that the other boy had between himself and everyone else. And no matter how close you got, he wouldn't let you in.
Jonghyun envied Key's fearlessness when he took on the world, but he didn't envy whatever fear he had, clutched close to his heart and hidden, that made him believe that he had to do everything alone. But Jonghyun was determined- determined to show Key that he was never alone. That he would never be alone if he would just let Jonghyun in.
Super Junior- Yesung/Ryeowook- PG- Eileen by The Hush Sound
“We'll be fine in the morning”
It is always the same- the dream beginning with Yesung in the middle of an empty room, hearing Ryeowook calling for him, but unable to figure out where he is. That's when the knocking starts against a door he hadn't noticed before. And he can just picture the smaller man on the other side- pounding harder and harder when he finds that he can't get through.
Then they're suddenly on a dock at night- fog keeping the moon from reflecting in the water of the lake. Ryeowook says that he has to go, begging for Yesung to come with him- to swim in the water with him to the other side. But he knows that he can't because the lake isn't a place for the living and he tells him so. Then he has to see Ryeowook's heart breaking as his face crumples, grasping onto Yesung's hand right up until he steps off the dock and disappearing into the dark water forever.
It's then that Yesung wakes, with tears streaming down his face and Ryeowook stroking his hair, telling him that it was just a nightmare. He can't help it then, pulling the smaller man against him and whispering how much he loves him and begging him to never, ever leave.
“Stay with me,” he says.
“Always.”
SNSD- Jessica/Tiffany- G- Glam by Christina Aguilera
“Blush on, lashes long, mascara strong”
Sky high heels, opaque black tights over long legs, and a little red cocktail dress that showed off her milky shoulders. That was how Jessica first set eyes on Tiffany Hwang, with her eyes rimmed black and her mascara blacker. Her fingernails were cut short, but perfectly shaped and painted with deep red lacquer. In her perfectly manicured hands, she grasped a pewter snakeskin clutch to her chest.
“I'm sorry,” Jessica apologized, feeling stupid for plowing around the corner like she had.
“It's okay,” the other girl, whose name she would soon learn, told her right away, smiling in a way that had Jessica wanting to take a picture so she could feel that happiness bubble up inside of her whenever she wanted.
But it turned out that she wouldn't need a picture (though she ended up getting many- most of the two of them with their cheeks pressed together, smiling into the camera) because she got the real thing.

“A stitch away”
Jiyong had always been a star- even back when they were trainees and no one knew their names or faces. It was impossible to deny that he had what the industry liked to refer to as “it.” Though no one could say just what “it” was, Jiyong had it in spades.
It had been at a company party shortly before their debut when Seungri fell in love. It seemed that there was something in the air that night- his dreams so close he could almost reach out and grab them. But the stress was getting to him- so close to knocking him down before he even had a chance to try.
A mess of emotions, it was no wonder he found himself in Jiyong's orbit- watching as the older boy worked the room like he was famous already. The little bit of alcohol that he'd downed had been enough liquid courage for him to corner Jiyong in an empty hallway when the party was over and kiss him on the lips.
He thought that maybe he'd absorb some of that magic that glowed behind the older boy's eyes, but having those eyes look had him like that was better.

“Contaminated standards”
Krystal never thought twice about what society told her was beautiful- long hair, big eyes, full lips, slim waist, long legs. She pored over fashion magazines, trying out all of the makeup techniques the editors recommend to give her the right look and taking to heart all of the biggest trends of the season.
Obsessed? Certainly not. Vain? Maybe just a little. But all girls were, right?
Amber had short hair and small eyes. She didn't really have curves, or at least she didn't wear clothes to show them off. She didn't wear makeup and didn't care what was in. Krystal didn't understand her at all, but somehow they became friends anyway. Amber didn't understand Krystal either, telling her that she didn't have to wear all of that makeup or buy whatever clothes were in the magazine that month to be beautiful. Krystal always scoffed, assuming that Amber was just being nice. Until one day when she was watching the other girl laugh that she realized that Amber was the most beautiful girl that she'd ever seen.
Krystal finally understood.

“The danger that lies behind your eyes”
Changmin knew, oh he knew, that Jaejoong was trouble. The older boy was beautiful and handsome all at once- he attracted men and women alike. Changmin knew that he was with someone new almost every night. He knew never to get tricked like all those other men and women that Jaejoong zeroed in on, slept with, and then tossed aside.
But when the older boy had sidled up to him, laughing at his jokes with a sincerity that he'd never expected and then dragging his hand up Changmin's thigh in a way that had his head spinning, all the while telling him how perfect he was- gorgeous, handsome, sexy- he couldn't help but fall under other boy's spell.
He knew better, but he still followed Jaejoong to his room, letting the older boy strip him down and take him how he wanted- crying out Jaejoong's name in the throes of ecstasy like it wasn't something he's heard a million times before.
And Jaejoong never knew that he'd taken something from Changmin that he could never get back. Or maybe he just didn't care.
Still, Changmin couldn't say no- not when it was Jaejoong's voice in his ear telling him that he wanted him- telling him that he was perfect.
He wasn't perfect anymore.

"Up above the world, up above it all, here's a hand to hold on to"
Jinyoung wasn't the maternal type of leader that made them all food and picked up after them. He wasn't a dictator either, yelling at them when they made a mistake or creating rules just for the sake of making rules. He more or less just let the members do what they wanted as long as they were responsible and showed up rehearsal on time.
But there was something about Sandeul that made him want to take care of him- maybe it was his round face or his big smile or that look on his face that he got when he was unsure, eyes wide and innocent looking. He didn't know but he wanted to shield him from the harsh comments of netizens or save him from having to practice late into the night when he was already exhausted.
And maybe he couldn't really do those things- he couldn't keep the younger boy off the internet and they had to practice- but he could hold him when some idiot posted something mean online, whispering reassurances into his hair. And he could curl up next to him at night to remind him that he wasn't alone.
Maybe it wasn't much, but Jinyoung would do whatever it took to see Sandeul's smile. Because it lit up the stars at night.
