Changmin stood at the picture window in his apartment, staring down at the cars passing by- only the headlights and taillights really visible in the dark. Despite the late hour, there were still so many cars moving so fast down the streets of the city. Windows in the tall buildings surrounding him twinkled in the night, indicating that there was someone awake inside. But his light was off even though he wasn’t deep under the blanket of sleep.
The glass was cold against his forehead as he looked down- almost feeling as though he was falling- the motion on the streets blurring as tears gathered in his eyes. When had he started crying? It must have been a while ago, he realized, as his tears made their way down already traveled paths over his cheeks.
He wasn’t sure that he really had a reason for crying, but there was little he could do to stop the tightness in his chest or the nearly silent sobs that shook his shoulders as he stood there- watching hundreds of lives move by at once. So fast.
Changmin’s palms pressed against the window, forming condensation where his warm skin met the cool glass. His fingertips curled in anguish against the pane of glass- a pain that he couldn’t name nor could he escape.
A light, warm touch on his waist startled him out of his daze, making him jump and turn away from the artificial lights of the city- his eyes refocusing to find Yunho behind him, eyes soft, but expression guarded. Changmin let out breath, feeling his muscles unclench slightly from the release, as he turned back around, pressing his cheek against the cold window and closing his eyes.
When he felt the touch at his waist this time, he didn’t jump- only feeling his muscles relax as big hands pressed against his skin through his rumpled undershirt, their heat permeating the thin layer and warming him all over. Strong arms circled his stomach and held on tight as he allowed himself to let go.
The falling sensation was gone only to be replaced by a security that he could only ever find like this.
